“Walk Forward,” to be Promoted on Amazon.com
Per the 75th Anniversary of Kristallnacht on November 9, 2013, “Walk Forward,” will begin a week long Kindle Countdown on Amazon.com and Amazon.com.uk
Cleveland, Ohio –November 7, 2013. German born Rosa Raskin (nee Chimowicz) describes her 50+ year search for her older sister in “Walk Forward,” a different Schindler's list. Fulfilling the promise made to her father, a Holocaust survivor and member of the “Last 500,” Raskin tells the story of her immigrant family and a father’s hope to find his first-born daughter, Eugenia Chimowicz, a blond-haired nine-year-old, last documented alive in concentration camp Stutthof on September 3, 1944.

Using letters from her Uncle Alfred, Head of Metals #1 in the Lodz Ghetto, who selected each member of the “Last 500,” and those of her father verifying the stories young Rosie heard as a child, Raskin details the history of the family, including events in the lives of her Christian relatives, before, during, and after the Holocaust. Jewish family members are caught in a hellish spider's web. As pawns in the chess game between Hitler's assistants, the group designated as metal workers, survive the Lodz Ghetto, Auschwitz, and Stutthof, the last place where two young Chimowicz mothers and their four children were seen alive. Those who survived concentration camp Stutthof, were sent to a converted cigarette factory in Dresden to make munitions. On the burning of Dresden, they continued on a horrific death march to concentration camp Theresienstadt. Born in Germany after the Holocaust, Raskin describes the courage of her mother, Louise, who enabled the family to continue forward in the complicated journey to the United States as displaced persons.

“Walk Forward,” $2.99, is being promoted in the week-long Kindle Countdown for $0.99.

A silent tribute, “We walk forward, but will never forget,” is presented in the book's video trailer at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zp7uQap6p2M.

The Next Step

When databases, contacts, and in-person research have been exhausted, publishing a book opens up a new pathway.

The Kindle version of "Walk Forward," has been reduced on all Amazon.com international nodes for the remaining days in August and the month of September 2013, with the hope of quickly finding any new information on a sister lost in the Holocaust! Time may be running out per the aging survivor population.

Stay tuned for the next step,  submitting a mouth swap for DNA testing!

Free Promotion Days

I just finished a three day, free promotion period for "Walk Forward" on Amazon Kindle.
Several hundred copies of the book were downloaded worldwide during the free promotion period.

It is interesting to note that sales of a book seem to increase as soon as one advertises free days, but the sales do not seem to necessarily continue after the promotion ends.

Although the UK is active in downloading the ebook, very few downloads have taken place in Germany. Germany does not yet appear to be a fan of ebooks, but will most probably catch up sometime in the near future. When Germans are ready to read ebooks in mass, hopefully, they will download Walk Forward.

In the first six months, many more ebooks have been downloaded that paperback copies sold.

The link to Walk Forward on Amazon.com in the U.S. is http://www.amazon.com/Walk-Forward-ebook/dp/B009H6Y7AC.

Book Reviews, the other side

Not all book reviews are good, in fact some are on the borderline of hurtful, especially is the reviewer had not truly read the book and has an "agenda" in writing a review.

However, it is fascinating that negative and controversial reviews seem to sell books or get them distributed in a wider range!

As of today, January 1, 2013, Walk Forward continues to hold the following:

"Eugenia, if by some reason you are alive and find this book, please contact me, your half-sister Rosie!"

#1 in Kindle Store > Kindle eBooks > Nonfiction > Children's Nonfiction > History > Holocaust
#1 in Books > Children's Books > History > Holocaust

What is the secret to being #1 in two categories? Good question and I hope to find the answers soon!

Happy New Year 2013 to everyone, especially those that frequent this blog!
